We’ll unlock the secrets of Spanish wine as we taste our way around the region of Andalusia in six glasses. You’ll sip and swirl led by a passionate local wine lover, who gives the tasting in English.
The perfect pre-lunch or pre-dinner experience, over the course of 1.5 hours, you’ll learn the fascinating history of Spanish winemaking, the most common local grape varieties, and what to look for when buying Spanish wine– including demystifying intricate wine labels!
You’ll taste six excellent wines paired with light tapas, from dry and crisp Spanish white wine to undervalued top-quality sherry wines, and finally on to the country’s best red wines. The evening begins as you dive into two of our favorite family-run taverns where your expert, English-speaking guide will serve up local delicacies and drinks and give you a crash course in eating tapas in Seville (an art form in its own right!). Then, over plates of delicious acorn-fed Iberian ham and local wines your guide will then lead you through a fascinating explanation of the roots and mysteries of flamenco – from its unclear origins to its current worldwide fame. Join us for a wine-lover’s day out in the beautiful region of Jerez, home of Spain’s iconic sherry wine. Across two separate wineries we’ll introduce you to the traditional and the modern of winemaking in the region. We will explore the complex world of sherry as well as the amazing reds and roses being produced in the area in this all-encompassing, thirst quenching day trip experience. And what’s more, you’ll also enjoy a tapas lunch in one of the most well-loved taverns in Jerez. This is a dream day trip for wine experts and curious beginners alike.
Kick off the day by meeting your local guide and boarding your private transport to begin your day trip adventure. En route to Jerez, you’ll get a grounding in the history of Jerez and winemaking in the region from your expert guide. Our first winery is located down narrow dirt tracks in the outskirts of Jerez. We’ll tour this spectacularly beautiful winery, from the underground cellars to it’s picturesque garden, before trying some of its stand-out vinos and local tapas in the historic former family home on site as we look down on the city below.
Having whet our appetite, we’ll head into the city and embark on a cultural stroll through the beautiful city center, passing by some of the city’s iconic monuments and experiencing the unique atmosphere at the city’s lively food market as your guide points out some local specialities.
Then for lunch, we’ll sit down to tapas in one of the city’s most iconic taverns off the beaten track in the city center, where you will enjoy local wine paired with a delicious selection of tapas, discovering the incredible local cuisine with each bite.
After lunch, it’s time for our second winery of the day – one of the city’s most emblematic sherry bodegas. We’ll see the unique way sherry wine is produced and what makes it so special to this region. Armed with our sherry knowledge, it’s time for a tasting! Sample a selection of the bodegas finest sherry wines with tips on how best to pair each unique drink.
At the end of the day, you’ll be chauffeured back to our meeting point in Seville, having enjoyed a delicious, relaxing and enlightening wine trip experience.
