Frequently Asked Questions
99.9% of our guests feel comfortably full by the end of our tours.
On all our tours we start tasting almost right away. So, if you must eat before a tour, we recommend keeping it to a light snack.
Firstly, congratulations! Secondly, of course we can! Simply let us know that you’re pregnant in the “dietary requirements” section when you book the tour, and we’ll take care of the rest (i.e. we won’t serve you cured meats, uncooked unpasteurised cheeses or alcoholic drinks).
All tours offer beverages, and water is also provided at points throughout the tours.
Of course you will! While we do highlight typical Spanish alcoholic drinks on our tours, drinking alcohol is not at all necessary to enjoy our tours! Simply let us know in the “dietary requirements” section when you book the tour, and we’ll serve you non-alcoholic drinks instead. Given the curious fact that non-alcoholic drinks in Spain are often more expensive than wine and beer, we don’t offer discounts for non-drinkers.
The legal drinking age in Spain in 18, which means that if you’re under 18 we’ll provide you with non-alcoholic drinks. Guides are not able to bend this rule, as it would be against the law and wouldn’t be fair on the law-abiding establishments we visit.
Booking Your Tour
Definitely! Anytime is a good time to take a Devour Seville Food Tour while staying in Seville. But if it works for your schedule, it’s best to take the tour at the beginning of your trip. Why? As well as feeding our guests delicious food and fun facts during the tour, part of our goal is to give you the tools you to tackle eating in Seville all on your own. After our tour you’ll be able to lead your own self-guided tour with the recommendations of your guide. Also, when you book, you’ll receive our Devouring Seville mini-guide, which is packed with our top recommendations for eating in the city.
We aim to fill bellies and minds and so our tours are so much more than a just a tasting experience! Your guide will tell you about the city, its history, monuments, and food evolution. During your experience you will learn loads about local culinary history, the current food scene, typical plates, and ingredients.
All tour tickets must be purchased in advance through this website. We don’t allow walk-ups or cash payments on the day. You can book a tour through this website up until one hour before the tour start time. But our tours do often sell out in advance, and we’d hate you to miss out so to ensure you get the time and date you want, please book well in advance.
When you book your tour through our secure booking system, you will be able to pay with credit card.
Our booking system (provided by EzTix) is secure and safe for credit card use. You can refer to EzTix’s SSL certificate here.
Of course you can! One of the great things about our tours is the chance to meet other fellow foodies. And while we do require at least two guests for a tour to take place, we certainly don’t discriminate against solo travellers. If for any reason you’re the only person booked on a tour, we’ll get in touch and switch you over to another time or tour (if possible) or we’ll provide a full refund.
We love having curious kids and their parents on our daytime tours! However, we remind parents that there is a fair bit of walking involved and the samples may not always be what children are used to. Any doubts, just get in touch. And keep in mind that non-eating children under 5 are free of charge on our tours! Finally, please note that our Tapas, Taverns & History Tour and our Evening Tapas & Flamenco Tour are only available for guests aged 13 and up (due to it being a late-night experience in busy tapas bars).
Given the traditional and often small establishments we visit, we’re unable to exceed the guest limits on a tour. But please get in touch by emailing [email protected] and we’ll let you know what your options are.
There’s no official waiting list. If a tour is full, please feel free to email us at [email protected] and we’ll see if we can open another tour.
We do allow date changes up to three weeks before a tour. We also allow cancellations up to three weeks before a tour minus a 5% processing fee. After that point, we don’t allow cancellations or date changes. Your tour tickets are like concert tickets, once they are sold we cannot always resell them. When people cancel in the lead up to a tour, those spaces that would have been filled by other customers, are not filled at the last minute. And given how small and intimate we keep our tours, it’s important for us to try and fill up our groups.
Depending on availability, we do offer private versions of our tours to groups. We can also offer customised tours and experiences for larger groups. Contact us at [email protected] and and we’ll get back to you with options.
We know that along with the food, the most important thing on a food tour is the guide. And that’s why we work with the smartest, most passionate, most talented bunch of Spain gurus around. Our guides not only know and love this country, but are gifted storytellers and have a rare knack for making our guests just as excited about Spain as they are.
We currently offer food tours in Madrid, Barcelona, Seville and Malaga and a number of our guests take tours in more than one city. Why? Because Spain is a country of huge gastronomic and cultural variety. And in each place we offer tours, we give you a true taste of the local cuisine, insight into the local culture, and tailored tips for tackling the food scene in that city. Every tour is unique and combine and complement the others that we offer. So, if you’re hungry enough, we’d love to welcome you on a tour in more than one Spanish city!
Our tours start on time so that the food doesn’t get cold. When you book a tour you will receive an email confirmation from us with the meeting details for that tour. This email also includes the name and address of the first stop on the tour and the approximately length of time the group will be there. If the group is no longer at the first stop when you get there, please call us on +34 695 111 832 and we’ll try and catch you up with the group (though at this point we cannot guarantee you’ll be able to meet up with the group).
There are bathrooms are stops throughout each tour (though not necessarily at all stops). Please check with your guide.
Not only are they allowed, they’re encouraged! And please share your experience with us by tagging any pictures with our social media accounts – @devourspain is our main account!
Our tours do include some time to shop at certain food shops, however unscheduled stops are discouraged for the sake of finishing the tour on time and out of respect to other guests. If you’d like to return to any shops or stops for shopping after the tour, please ask your guide for directions.
Grab an umbrella and vámanos! Our tours are held rain or shine. Please check the conditions and dress appropriately.
Unfortunately, due to small Spanish alleyways and multilevel restaurants, our tours are not wheelchair or baby stroller accessible.
Gratuities are greatly appreciated, although never expected nor mandatory. The standard gratuity in the tour industry is 10-15%.
Currently all our tours are offered exclusively in English.
