Where to Cool Off in Seville

Visiting Seville during the warm summer weather?  You will have to get creative in finding places to cool off.

The last few weeks have seen Seville in the midst of a heat wave, thanks to hot air coming up over Europe from North Africa. Technically, it was two heatwaves, but for locals in Seville it really feels like the two just rolled into one! The one thing is we are famously not by the beach, as the nearby beaches are around 80 kilometers from the city, so there really is no better time to find a spot to relax with some water in the city. But where are the best spots to cool off in Seville?

Summer might be warming up, but Seville is cooling down, thanks to these suggestions of where to cool off in Seville!

SADUS

If you’re wondering where to cool off in Seville, a pool is the first choice! After all, there really is no better way to beat the heat than by getting right into the water! The University of Seville runs a sports center with an outdoor pool that’s open to visitors during the summer. Located outside of the city center, it’s easiest to get to if you have access to a car. Can’t you just feel the cool water now?

Address: Avenida de Dinamarca, s/n

Aquopolis

Aquopolis has the perfect solution to cool off, and have a bit of fun while doing so! This place is perfect for all ages, as the water park features not only several water slides, but swimming areas for those seeking a more relaxing form of enjoyment.  Aquopolis is open from 12:00 to 20:00 every day during the summer months, making it a great place cool down after a hot morning sightseeing.

Hours: Mon to Sun – 12:00–20:00

Summer is warming up, but Seville is cooling down, thanks to these suggestions of where to cool off in Seville! We especially love visiting the Magnum Summer Club during the summer, where the poolside bar serves up these wonderful mojitos.

Alameda de Hercules

Alameda de Hercules is the large boulevard lined with bars, where Seville’s hip and alternative crowd go, be it for a casual day drink or to party the night away. In the middle of the square there are water jets spraying water in every direction, some lighter sprays and others with more force. When the afternoon heat gets too much, we have seen many a happy child walk through the water sprays and enjoy a moments relief (in 40+ degrees you don’t stay wet for very long!) But we don’t judge when we see adults partaking in this past time too – even the young at heart can’t help themselves in this heat.

Isla Magica

Isla Magica is a complex compromised of a theme park with plenty of thrill seeking rides, and Aqua Magica, a water park, which calls itself La Playa de Sevilla (Seville’s beach). Aside from water slides, toboggans, and a large aquatic playground for kids, there is also Playa Quetzal, a large wave pool, and Río Lento, a tranquil “river” swimming area with a light current. The ticket is sold as a joint ticket for the whole complex, so Isla Magica presents itself as a perfect opportunity for a whole day of family fun.

Address: Rotonda Isla Mágica, Isla de la Cartuja
Hours: 6th June – 21st June weekends only, 11:30 – 20:00; 24th June – 13th Sept every day, 11:30 – 20:00; 19 Sept – 27 Sept, weekends
only, 11:30 – 19:00.
Price: 18 – 36 euros

Summer is warming up, but Seville is cooling down, thanks to these suggestions of where to cool off in Seville! Heading down to the river is a great idea, if you are feeling adventurous you can go out on a pedal boat.

The River

Perhaps you are looking to cool off but not actually get in the water? During the summer months it feels like the whole of Seville flocks to the river in hope of catching a bit of cool breeze coming off the water. Parks like the Jardines de Chapina are great places to take the picnic rug and sit in the shade for the afternoon, and bars alongside the river like those at Calle Betis in Triana are a spot to go for a drink, perhaps a cocktail or two.

I’m traveling to Seville on my own in December. Can you recommend activities for a solo traveler and are there any groups I can join if I’m feeling lonely?
