Planning a trip to Seville in the near future, but want some inside info before you get on the plane? Look no further!
First off, choosing Seville was an excellent decision! Seville will both steal your heart and completely win over your taste buds with its fascinating history and wide variety of amazing food. But don’t just take our word for it, the city is full of creative people documenting their experiences in the city online so people can really see Seville from a local’s perspective. To make researching the city a bit easier, we’ve put together a list of five of the best blogs about Seville in English.
1. The Seville blog for expat dreamers
In Sunshine and Siestas, Cat tells us about her experience as an American living in Seville. She was bitten by the travel bug at a young age and fell in love with Spain while studying abroad in Valladolid. She moved to Seville in 2007 as an English teacher and has never looked back! Her Seville blog details her adventures and life in this classic Andalusian city. Here you can also find great information on the rest of Spain, including what to eat and what to see. The best part? As soon as you start reading, it feels like you’ve known Cat forever and you are just catching up over coffee or caña (beer). Check out her blog – your inner expat won’t be sorry!
2. Seville through a journalist’s eye
In Scribbler in Seville, Fiona, a British journalist who has been living in Seville since 2003, tells us all about the city’s off the beaten path places and authentic experiences that could really enhance your trip to Seville. She also has gorgeous images for you to enjoy and spark your imagination. If you are traveling with kids, make sure to check out her section on Family with great ideas on exploring Andalusia with your young travelers.
3. A Seville Blog about life as an expat
In “I Know a Little Place in Seville,” Mary Biles writes about her own adventures and tips for moving to and living in the capital of Andalusia. She should know, this is her second time moving to Spain (the first go round was in Madrid). My favorite part of her blog is the matter of fact, real life tone she takes. Make sure to read her post about “Useful Services in Seville Where English is spoken“.
4. Beautifully written snippets of life in Seville & Andalusia
Andrew Forbes writes the Andalucia Diary, a great resource on Andalusia in general with some amazing insights into Seville itself. Given its broader subject matter, it is perfect for consulting about life in the capital, as well as some side trips you might take during your stay. Make sure to check out his posts about different restaurants, the photos alone are enough to make your tummy grumble! He also has fabulous ideas for weekend getaways, hikes and even wine tastings around Andalusia. He’s definitely tempted us to hit the road!
5. The freelance experience
In her varied and fascinating blog Becoming Sevillana, Kim Causier reveals the highs and lows of a freelance translator’s life in Seville. Along with tips on the freelance lifestyle, you’ll also find info on upcoming events in the city. This makes it a great reference point before planning your trip. From festivals to flamenco events to Co-Working and Start Up gatherings, there’s something for everyone in this excellently constructed light-hearted blog.Want our insider’s guide to eating in Seville?
