Searching for gluten-free food in Malaga? Among the bread and the battered fish, there are some great gluten-free gems to be found.
While the city council and celiac association even have an initiative called Malaga Sin Gluten, with more and more bars and restaurants are joining the movement, the truth is that it’s actually fairly easy to eat out gluten-free in Spain. Many wait staff and chefs are clear about eating gluten free means, and much of the cuisine is based around grilled fish and meat, which is naturally gluten-free anyway! Here are some of our top picks for where to eat gluten free in Malaga.
Gluten-Free Breakfast in Malaga
La Recova: This quirky little bar is one of our favorite places to go for breakfast, gluten-free or otherwise! The simple breakfast involves freshly toasted bread and a plate of five different spreads, both sweet and savory. Good gluten-free bread is also on offer, making this a great option for a gluten-free breakfast in Malaga’s city center!
Café Central: Malaga’s most iconic cafe is also a great place to eat a gluten-free breakfast in the historic center. The local favorite for breakfast here is pitufo (toasted bread filled with delicious things such as crushed tomato and ham). But gluten-free bread is also available. They even take the extra step of having individually wrapped gluten-free rolls, brought to you in the paper bag in order to avoid cross-contamination.
