What to Expect on Your Tour

    TOUR SNAPSHOT

This tour is the triple threat: tapas bars that locals love, a neighborhood we actually go out in, and the foods we eat when we do. Tonight you’re one of us, and we’ll show you what a night out would look like if you lived here. Trust us when we say it doesn’t get more authentic than this.

    STOP-BY-STOP

Start your evening on the banks of the Guadalquivir River. You’ll get an introduction to the neighborhood across the river, and begin to understand how its location continues to shape it today. Then, it’s across the iconic Isabel II Bridge to your first tapas stop: a family-run gourmet grocer famous for its sherry wines served straight from the barrel with flamenco flair. Here we’ll start our exploration of the true tastes of traditional Andalusia with cured meats and a cold tomato soup originally from nearby Cordoba.

On the way to your second tapas stop, you’ll wind through Triana’s cobblestone backstreets making two special stops along the way, at an emblematic church and a tiny chapel. Then, it’s time for a treat the locals love, fresh shrimp from the neighboring province of Huelva and ice cold beer!

Just on the other side of Triana’s main pedestrian street is our third tapas bar of the night. Opened and run by the same family since 1962, this spot is an absolute Triana institution. The key to their success is their reduced menu that’s been perfected over the last 50 years, and we’re going to try a few of the star dishes. Their most famous is the city’s best pork sirloin—bought fresh daily from the neighborhood market—and addictive grilled mushrooms. Both dishes go perfectly with the local substitute to sangria or a local wine.

As we keep exploring the hidden backstreets of Triana, you’ll learn about the neighborhood’s centuries-old ceramics tradition and catch a glimpse of the best ceramic shops in town. Finally, we’ll wrap up the evening at a local bar that’s been open since the 1950s and is run by a second-generation Triana family. This spot is a favorite among bullfighters and flamenco dancers and their home cooking draws crowds from across the neighborhood.

You’ll leave with an appreciation of simple Spanish cooking, an understanding of what sets this neighborhood across the river apart, and a list of local hangouts that you won’t be able to keep from revisiting.

And as with all Devour Seville tours, you’ll receive our Devouring Seville guide. Packed with all our favorite places to eat and drink in the city, put down your guidebook and get ready to experience Seville like a local!

The tour lasts approximately 2.5 hours (give or take 15 minutes). The tour covers approximately 2 kilometers (1.2 miles) and there is no guaranteed seating at any of the stops. Please note that it is traditional and authentic in Seville tapas bars to stand and eat at the bar, and some of the taverns we visit do not have tables or seating.
Don’t worry, you won’t be part of a massive crowd following a guide with a flag! We keep our groups small and intimate, so the tour can squeeze into small, hidden places and you get personal time with your guide. The maximum number of guests on this tour is usually 10 people, and all of our tours are guaranteed to operate, even with just one person.
We want as many people to be able to enjoy our tours as possible. Scroll up the page a little to see what dietary restrictions this tour is adaptable for.
